Rock The Vote!

Thursday, May 22nd, 2008

The SLA feature really taught me a lot about what our future president is going to stand for and I think that is important! I can’t vote, of course, but at least now I will be able to talk to my dad about it and know what I am talking about!

Education, health and the environment are really important. I can’t believe that some people can’t afford to go to the doctor so I am glad that our next leader will want to do something to help those people out.

With education, I agree that our teachers should be paid properly. I know that if I were doing an important job and didn’t feel like I was getting paid properly, it would probably make me feel really bad and would hinder how I work. Education is too important for our teachers to be in bad moods! I also think that test are important but I know some people who are super smart but are nervous when they take tests and don’t do well on them, so I don’t think that education or our schools getting money shouldn’t totally rely on how we do on our tests (talk about pressure!)

The environment is really important to me so I am glad that the government is getting involved in making sure that the big companies that are sending out bad gases into the air are stopped because I think it would be difficult without the government backing us up! I did some research on some animals that have recently been put on the endangered list and it is so sad! Imagine never being able to see an African or Asian elephant or a gorilla. There are also certain kinds of whales, monkeys, wild cats, like cheetahs and leopards, and bears, like panda’s, that could be gone before we know it! So I think it’s really important that we all do whatever we have to do to help the earth heal itself from the damage we’ve already done and I’m hoping that all you adults out there elect a president who cares about that too!

Hello World- Speak Up!

Friday, May 9th, 2008

This is my first blog here and I know I’ve said it a million times but I’m super excited to be able to have such a cool place to speak my mind!  I hope that you speak your mind too.  There are tons of places on this site to be able to chat with friends or blab on the Blab board about anything.  I know that sometimes when I try to speak to adults my opinion doesn’t get paid much attention to as much as I would like, so I like that this site is a place where people our age can really be heard! So if there’s anything you ever want to say to our community, me, or the AIC’s (adults in charge) of this place, definitely send me a message and I’ll make sure they hear you.

I’ve been lucky enough to be able to play around on this website while it was being created and I am so happy that it turned out so cool and my parents love it too.  They new allowed me to go on other social sites but this ones is perfect!  i hope you think so too.

End Of School

Friday, May 9th, 2008

School is out soon and although I’m super happy and ready to start my summer, I’m starting to get a little bummed! “No more teachers, no more books” is all well and good, I won’t miss that stuff! But what about my friends that I see every day at school? And that cute guy in Art class? And the yummy chips they ONLY sell in the third floor vending machine. I’ll definitely miss that stuff!

I was in the gym at a volleyball game after school last week and my friends and I started talking about how we will miss school events and dances over the summer.

So in some ways, the end of school is really a sad thing. I love socializing and the events that my school puts together (oh..and the learning thing too.) But at least over the summer I will have September to look forward to and it will start all over again!
